One of my favorite things about traveling is how lovely people can be when you respond well to them. they will smile back at you if you at them and even talk to you politely when just minutes before they were pretty mad at someone else.
in the end, all of us want to be heard and seen. and just a small gesture of smiling and nodding your head can really make a lot of difference.
so, next time you travel, don't forget to smile and laugh at people around you and you never know whose day you will end up making by this smallest gesture. :) .

Give new york city a spin this winter. after enjoying a quintessential new york experience at the world-famous rink at rockefeller center, cozy up by one of our wood-burning fireplaces for a stay that’s so delightful. #nowyouareroyal [📸: @rockcenterrink]
The second photo is me taking a selfie while @lauracmart was feeling seasick in the background. but to be fair, she made me go in the ocean while i was still trying to get over being sick. #2020trips#welltraveled

Hiked about 1.5 miles up a beach to arrive here. crazy winds, pouring rain, crashing waves, river crossing, log hopping, and leg burning sand/stone - it was so d**n fun and we were the only souls out there. to say that i’m feeling extremely blessed right now is quite an understatement.

Trinidad & tobago is flying so far under the radar that we're guessing many of your are not totally sure where it is. don't worry, though (seriously) you are definitely not alone. the islands of trinidad & tobago are just off the coast of venezuela (only 7 miles away, to be exact!). if you're thinking to yourself, 'wait... but that looks like indian food,' you are not wrong. this is a perfect example of the fascinating cultural mix that can be found in trinidad & tobago. the culture of the islands is a mix of east indian, african, and caribbean, and one of the best ways to see this cultural mashup play out in real life is through the food. here you can see what looks like a typical indian spread, however it is served up on a banana leaf, a typically caribbean tradition. the best way to enjoy this feast is with your hands (indian influence there again) by scooping up the veggies and sauces with a bit of naan. yum. this meal is a memorable part of the second day of our trinidad & tobago itinerary, and your first taste of the rich culture that exists in this little pocket of the world. || photo by @vduquefoto#elcaminotravel
