Showing you the other two #colettepenny dresses i made these past two months. the light blue linen dress was my first try of this pattern. can i give a shout out to linen?! i forgot how much i love linen!! 🥰 ok, it wrinkles like hell, but the coolness and crispness of the fabric is so lovely and it sews great. this linen dress helped me through the warm days this summer. •
Can you tell i’m trying to stack up on my basics lately?
. #seamworkbo by @seamworkmag in a straight size 12 (check my highlights for fitting and my measurements). in a mystery charity shop fabric that looks like linen and is so soft. burn test required i think.
really easy make, love the cuffs! i did a faux french seam on the under arm curve for the first time which was a cinch because of the 5/8 seam allowance.
i reshaped the neckline as i felt it was too wide and used one of my ready to wear knit tee’s to trace and it’s just big enough to get my head through comfortably. phew! i have such problems with curved necklines. still haven’t found the perfect balance.
it’s a great top. i sized down quite a bit but made no other mods at all. i really took my time with cutting and piecing and have enjoyed getting a clean finish with my latest garments. getting all nerdy with my process lately. pressing loads has been an absolute game changer thanks to #miessewingtips for that one (and many others).
like i say. i need to make trousers. properly fitted trousers but i’m scared. i’m scared of the process, the fitting but also the emotional rollercoaster i know it’ll be trying to fit something around the part of my body i dislike the most. gotta start though....orrrr maybe i’ll do a jacket first 🤔 😆 .
