Hey art tribe 👧🏻
sooo let’s talk art horror.... 👻 tis almost the season! 💀🎃
make sure you check out my new youtube video for the full discussion! youtube.com/mjlindoart
so my main story hails from junior college here in santa rosa. young mj at the tender age of 19 decided she wanted to become an artist and choose that as her career. i decided to put together my first ever series of paintings and show it to my favorite art teacher at that time! i worked for months and was so excited to share what i had been working on. but when i brought in those pieces to show my teacher, he was incredibly unimpressed mainly by the subject matter. essentially he didn’t want people to paint beauty of any kind. he wanted art to tell a political point of view.
personally my artwork has enormous meaning for me. i do have a hard time explaining it at times or i’m somewhat embarrassed and sometimes there are politics sprinkled in there but it’s for me to see. i don’t want to throw my views into my audience face and i don’t want my art to strictly be political. my art is my journey and my escape. and the biggest compliment is when my work touches someone else as well. it’s like if someone was reading your diary and understood everything you were going through! if my artwork has conveyed any sort of emotion for you, then i feel accomplished with that piece! i need to make sure i feel some sort of emotion from it for myself as well or i am not fulfilling me 👧🏻🐰 anyway! i’d love to hear your thoughts!!! and don’t forgot to check out my video for the rest of the discussion (link on my bio) paint used @gamblincolors
