If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know i talk a lot about following your dreams... but i’ve had plenty of dreams that have never happened.
in high school i wanted to be a ski racer and in college i wanted to be a sponsored skier. never happened. i used to want to be an actress, and i tried out for countless roles that i never got. when i was eight i wanted to be a famous singer like britney spears... that definitely did not happen (my voice cracks every time i sing…). see, i’m all one for following your dreams, but i also believing in listening to where the universe directs you to go. and for me, for now at least, that is creating art.
i started painting 4.5 years ago.
art was one of those things that kept showing up in my life, over and over. a theme that kept repeating itself. it would break my bones when it was mad i wasn’t paying attention to it. after i sustained five consecutive outdoor related injuries in less than two years (where i spent my recovery time creating), i finally stopped resisting the call to become serious about art as a lifestyle. slowly over time, after countless late nights of painting, it began to reward me. its become my biggest passion, my hugest frustration, and my dream job.
what i’m getting at is that its very difficult to achieve every single dream you ever have. we aren’t meant to be good at everything. life is even more difficult if you don’t lead your life in the direction you are called. i hope you give yourself permission to listen to the repeating themes in your life! i hope you give them your attention, give yourself a chance!
