Once upon a time... there was a young girl.
her name was kristina dikova.
she has left russia for great britain. she has been working for many years as russian sales executive in 🐠a big fishing company🐠 in a small scottish town, improving her skills in management, sales and english, of course.
the best way of learning the foreign language is to go to the foreign country? 🤔
i think it is a myth! 🤷♀️
many immigrants don’t speak english very well, even after living in the english speaking country for 20 years. many of them have been making the same basic mistakes for decades — for example, saying things like “he make tea?” instead of “did he make tea?” or “i help you” instead of “i will help you”. they typically speak with strong accents.
being in a foreign country only forces you to learn what is necessary to survive — the ability to understand everyday language and just enough speaking skills to order food and communicate with your co-workers or co-students.
the rest is up to you, your ✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊motivation and ability to learn — which means that you’re not much better off than someone who’s learning the language in his own country.
scotland was not easy for me, but i was learning english there by watching tv and movies, making new friends, reading books in english though i thought i was speaking quite good english... and the goal was to speak the proper language so nobody would think that you are actually from another country. i have won at that time.
and now i am starting a new life in germany, starting to speak german from the zero level.and i am not a young girl😆! i think 🤔 i need to eat more fish ( it’s full of omega 3 🙂) and remember myself back to scotland 🏴 and my work in fishery.
only i can change my life!
