my first encounter with a chamois, a beautiful species of mountain goat, was just after sunset. the last orange glow of the day made a perfect backdrop for this silhouette photo. i was so surprised, by how calm the animal was...my 500mm lens didn't actually leave me any other option than to go for a silhouette portrait 😅
it was also my first visit to the #vosges mountains, #france just a short stopover during a spontaneous road trip and i can highly recommend it! such a peaceful and beautiful place in central europe!
The maulbronn monastery is the place where hermann hesse went to school in 1891 and also the place and time which inspired him for the novel "unterm rad" (in english "beneath the wheel"). it became one of my favorite stories as i read it a long time ago, because i also understand it as a painful critic of the education system and the story connects with me on a deep level.
