& finally- my #yantaoveralls // i’m not sure if i enjoyed making them or not. they are very imperfect, the straps just wouldn’t go in the right way (i ended up making second straps without interfacing all the way up because it was creating too much bulk to get them in, and i didn’t put enough interfacing in for the bottons on the straps so who knows how well that part will last!) // they are made from a light linen and lined with an alice in wonderland liberty cotton lawn, with vintage buttons, orange button holes and side seam detail to match ✨ // they are very comfy i’ll give them that, and super light for summer. i think i will love them despite their imperfections and wonkiness // #memademay2019#memademay#memadeeveryday#handmadeoveralls#handmadedungarees#sewcialist#sewyourown#aliceinwonderland#libertyfabric
Omg. this might be my favorite top ever! the fit is perfect, the fabric is buttery, and the @arrowmountain buttons are the cherry on top!
the updated cup sizes in the fringe pattern by chalk & notch blew me away.
this is the size 4/6 in the bust, 4 in the waist and 0 for the skirt (with darts instead of gathers + added a band at the waist). i used the c/d cup size. bust darts were lowered 1/2 inch. the bust fits so much better than the previous version. added the ties to the back darts (this makes it look more fitted). i think i would need to size up with stiffer fabric. this viscose/linen noil from @blackbirdfabrics has a bit of give to it, which i love love love!! i wish i could better capture the beauty of this fabric! it's a lovely dark green.

Close up shot, of probably my favourite make so far!
i was kindly gifted this fabric from @minervadotcom in exchange for a blogpost that will be published later in the year.
i fell in love with this beautiful crepe viscose, it really hangs so beautifully and was a dream to work with.

So i’m a few days late, but #memademay2019 is over and i definitely thought it was worth acknowledging what a great challenge it was. not only did i really enjoy making a weekly garment, and pushing myself to try new techniques and patterns, but it made me appreciate my existing ‘me made’ wardrobe in a whole new way.
i’ve always been a bit bashful about wearing the clothes i’ve sewn, but now they’ve really stepped into my everyday wardrobe, and i am finding so much joy in sewing again.
thanks to @sozoblog for such an incentivising challenge ~ and for your encouragement!
and @fabricgodmother for all the beautiful fabrics and joyful conversations about frilly dresses!
i’m gonna keep it up for june! 🧵✂️

I feel like i say this every week, but favorite make ever! #persephonepants by @annaallenclothing . i’ve heard a lot about these pants and have been wanting to sew them for a while. they hype is real...i’ll be making these in every color i can get my hands on. took about 14 hours total start to finish, which is definitely the longest i’ve spent on a garment but i think it shows. so proud of that topstitching. learned a bunch of new techniques like how to make a button fly, sew lined pockets, belt loops...i used a cotton twill fabric + printed cotton (for the lining) by @robertkaufman purchased at @fancytigercrafts#millenialsewing#sewmystyle#sewist#sewing#memademay#memade#memademay2019
