repost @thesoulkoach just wanted to share with you guys that i’ve lost 22lbs 😛 i might’ve looked “thick” and healthy but i wasn’t. last year i reached my heaviest weight ever; 149. everyone who knows me knows that i was skinny (110lbs) up until i went to basic training in 2014. i gained weight 18lbs due to being on birth control: the pill and depo for 1 year, stress, me and my friends always going out to eat eating fried foods 😂🤦🏽♀️ and not seeing anything wrong with my weight because everyone made me feel comfortable with it.
after being told that i was boarder line hypertensive, my miscarriage, depression (due to a vitamin d deficiency)/life stressors, not being able to overcome a knee injury and people who would subliminally speak about my weight “suck in your stomach, you need to lose some weight, you a big girl now, you not little no more” i needed to change.
i didn’t change for anyone else i changed for me. throughout my journey i’ve always had my very special friend @kidcaboom 💪🏽🧡who was always there motivating me in the gym and literally running with me around the track at 8/9pm if needed. it was a long transition but it started with my diet since the gym wasn’t cutting it. i’ve always been a healthy eater but i wasn’t detoxing my body while doing that. i literally stopped working out and chose to switch to an alkaline diet and became a pescatarian; slowing transitioning off all other meats by eating them only on saturday and sunday if anything. started drinking real herbal tea @upfulblends 🔑🙏🏽 and being more conscious of what i put in my body.

Why do squished garbanzo beans taste like tuna? 🤩
ingredients: 3 cups chopped kale, 1 tomato, 2 cups garbanzo beans, 1 tsp sea salt, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, juice from 2 key limes, & 1 avocado
1) add chopped kale, garbanzo beans, and avocado to a bowl.
2) squish the garbanzo beans and avocado with the kale til it's mushy.
3) add key lime juice, sea salt, & cayenne.
4) mix and enjoy!

have you ever been invited to a potluck? there probably weren’t many vegan options there. so, here’s what you can do in this situation. first, let the host know you are vegan. if they care about you, they will attempt to accommodate you by providing at least one vegan item. second, make sure you bring a vegan dish to the p*t luck. this will ensure that you have something to eat. third, fix your plate first. put plenty of your vegan dish on your own plate. if your vegan dish is good, it will go fast, meat or not. finally, eat before you go to the potluck in case there is no vegan food or it’s all gone before you get there. this is how prepared vegans roll at a potluck.⠀
being vegan during the holidays⠀
the same potluck rules apply if you plan to spend the holidays with family. in most instances, vegan food is a decorative token salad on the side. moreover, the main vegetable dishes probably have some forms of meat and dairy in them as part of the traditional recipe. so there are probably not many options here either. however, it is not the end of the world. you can offer to bring the side dishes. of course, you will bring the vegan side dishes because you have practiced and tweaked your vegan recipes to perfection. when it’s time to eat, load up on the sides you prepared. ⠀

Soothing &balancing sea moss, rosewater, apple face mask
large handful of irish moss
3 t of drinkable rose water
5 t freshly grated organic apple
place the irish moss in a glass container and cover with spring water. leave overnight in the fridge to soak. you want it to soften, become a bit lighter in color, + a bit slimy.
rinse the plumped up irish moss in the sink, discard water.
add 3/4 c of fresh spring water and the irish moss to your high-speed blender and blend until smooth and gel-like.
add your 3t of rose water and blend again. transfer to a tupperware container
grate about 5 t of organic apple and stir into your gel.
let cool in fridge.
this gel will last about 3 weeks refrigerated.
when your gel is nice and cool, apply to your entire face, neck and chest area.
leave on for 20 minutes and remove with a warm soft cloth.
sea moss :: is a type of seaweed that is super rich in minerals and has wonderful detoxifying properties. when applied topically it soothes and softens the skin, is anti-inflammatory, eases rashes + sunburns, and also has anti-aging effects.
rosewater :: just as rose essence soothes the spirit + mood, rosewater when applied topically soothes inflamed skin, diminishing redness and calming enlarged capillaries just below the skin’s surface.
