Gùgōng! 🎴 after having picked up the deluxe version last spiel i finally got around to play it.. only six month later. shame on me. i don't know why i waited that long, the game is great. there are a lot of mechanisms that feel familiar, but there is enough innovation in it to be different. first of all the card trading: to do an action you have to gift a card that is higher that the value of the card in that region. plus you'll get to keep the card you traded for. that can give you points and other benefits and dictates your hand for the next round. very clever! can't wait to play it again.
#lucidity is a push-your-luck dice game for 1-4 players that takes approx 10-30m (depending on how greedy you are and player count).
the presentation and production quality of the game are fantastic. i love the theme and gruesome art work. the goal of the game is to escape from the realm of nightmares by drawing power from nightmares. that’s difficult to do since every time you draw power you risk becoming corrupted and turning into a nightmare yourself.
the gameplay with 2 is ok. you can transition from a dreamer to a nightmare if you roll too many shadow symbols of the same colour. as a nightmare it is still possible to win the game and you can torment dreamers that roll nightmare or exhaustion symbols of your colour. i imagine it is more interesting to be a nightmare in a 4 player game than in a 2 player game. definitely keen to try it this weekend with more players but based on first impressions it’s an ok push your luck game with great presentation.
🤖tokaido is a beautiful boardgame about meditative process of travelling through the japanese road. you can visit temples, buy souvenirs, swim in hot water sources, talk to local people and eat delicious food in hotels. and no matter who wins - it's pleasure to play:) 🦖Аппетит к «Токайдо» приходит во время игры.
