my college experience was absolutely amazing. i loved every moment of it. i moved to texas having never been to dallas and i only knew two people. i left everything that was familiar to me because i wanted something greater. i started college as a theater major with an artistic scholarship. i acted in a few shows, worked in the costume shop, and learned to do create a bloody face with stage makeup. life happened and i changed my major having only three semesters left. it was a major adjustment, but it was definitely ordained by god. i immersed myself into the campus culture at smu. i was involved with many organizations and governing boards; i sang at various programs; i had dinner with the board of trustees; i directed the gospel choir; and i received the highest honor an smu student could receive...the “m” award. i don’ut regret a single experience while there. every tough class, every fallout with friends, every decision i made helped make me who i am today. twelve years ago, i walked across the patio of owens fine arts center as a corporate communications and public affairs major with a minor in theater. i did it. i survived cancelled classes, financial aid, a horrible roommate who clearly hated his mother, falling out of my lofted bed, 9/11 my freshman year and hurricane katrina my senior year. i miss college, but i’ll always cherish the 5 years i spent at southern methodist university.
go red. go blue. go mustangs. smu.
