- when people tell me they cannot draw, i often ask them the same question over and over again and i ask them how often do they practice. typically the answer is never. i don't care what anyone wants to say you are not born with the gift of art. the greatest artists in the world who are good at their craft it is often a product of consistent practice and diligence. michael angelo, leonardo davinci, mozart, albert einstein are products of their hard work and effort. sometimes it's easy to think that someone has a gift but i think that when people tell me i have a gift i often become slightly offended by it. if it was a gift why do i have to work so hard to get it. i'm nowhere near where i want to be but if you saw how many hours i put into this you wouldn't think i was very far at all in comparison. if you want to draw then spend hours drawing and learning how to draw. if you want to pains spend hours painting and learning how to paint. the world is a very closed off place when you think that people were handed a gift... but when you believe that you are capable of anything as long as you put forth effort, the world becomes nothing but opportunity and choice and i think that is much more beautiful and perfect than a gift. if there is something that you cannot do that you want to do ask yourself honestly how diligently you are working towards it. that will usually tell you why or why not you are capable yet.
robbie enjoys suspension acts and had a rig malfunction last night. he suffered a compound fracture to his leg, it's going to require prolonged hospital stays and multiple surgeries to correct! robbie spends his life helping others, he is the founder of the i'm rad! movement (@the_rad_movement ), which encourages you to be your best self and spread love to everyone you encounter; let's show robbie our best selves! any help is greatly appreciated!! thanks, everyone!!
This was a piece done for @healthierlife719 kalina of her late husband trevor and owner of @dabtattoocream. i had the opportunity to become really good friends with trevor, spent many nights late on the phone with him and watch him build a dream from nothing. but the one thing i loved about him was his positivity.
there's a negative air about, and it seems that people are happier complaining than being happy about what you have. so when you meet someone that's so full of gun energy and positivity i can't help but cling to them. no matter what his situation he was always positive and happy. no matter what the conversation he always twisted it into a positive outlook.
and i mean come on look at this goofy smile. i probably laughed out loud seven or eight times doing this. you are missed trevor, i wish there were more positive examples like you in the world.
Guys. wow. the artist gathering event was such a success. we gave @trekow such a big day. so many people came out, so so so many more than i imagined. there was so much love and connecting going on. the idea was that the reason you go to a convention was to connect, but a lot of times we're busy and conventions are expensive to be at and traveling is expensive. the ability to say hi in by to friends dwindles with the chaos of being around so many other people. is he then to give us the opportunity to just be present with each other.
if you were there please share your pictures and videos and tag @blacklotustat2gallery. i'd love to see your time here :) the live painters @dandossantos_art@ryangattsthirdeye@alessandra_maria_pisano@samfiorinotattoos@adamaguastattoos@christian1perez were all incredibly inspiring to watch, anyways awesome to see them answer questions about each other's work. thanks to @robbieripoll for putting on the rad movement podcast an opening up doors for people with anxiety and allowing people to know they're not alone.
thank you to @21primetime37 for doing so much for us constantly. you're appreciated endlessly.
thank you to everyone that came out. i really do truly want to set up the connection between artists outside of a money system for connections sake. we have so much to offer each other not under the pressure of a convention, not during d***k conversations at bars, not during a tattoo or being
busy. just present.
Huge booth 20 x 60 mini shop at the @baltimoretattooartsconvention. we even brought a front desk and waiting room. :). we had so much fun designing this booth, and it's honestly not to show off as much as this has literally turned into another creative outlet. asking what is our best effort to design a booth, is our best foot forward a banner and a portfolio? thank you to our crew @blacklotustat2gallery for sitting this up like a bunch of d**n marines, and thank you mostly to all of our clients that are partaking this journey with us.
thank you to some of the other people who do rad booth design for inspiration including @destroytroy and @chicom4l. you guys help set the bar higher for me :).
People are so silly nitpicking at this tattoo saying that it's absolutely wrong. "why would the genie be wearing the infinity glove they're not even from the same universe?". "why does he have four fingers on one hand and five on the other". "you should have told your client it was a s****d idea and not did it"
first. i don't care about either universe, i care about my client. but to say that a client is s****d because of the tattoo that they want, you obviously do not understand the artist to client relationship. i do not dictate what my clients get just how it's drawn and placed on their body.
people i hate to break this to you but thanos and aladdin's genie do not actually exist. the authentic aladdin genie has four fingers and the authentic infinity gauntlet fits five finger hands. if you're telling me that in this imaginary world where the genie would crossover into the marvel universe, once he put the infinity gauntlet on he would be forced to grow another finger on the other hand? sounds like the type of an argument at 11-year-old would have.
i don't normally do cartoony tattoos like this and i've never seen the avengers movies, but i find it hilarious that people are this petty over imaginary cartoons. my client loves the avengers and he loves disney and wanted this tattoo, for him. not you.
thank you to all of the people who don't spend their time arguing over imaginary character mashups i.e. adults.
