Happy father’s day to the first man i ever loved! you’ve always been my protector, my teacher, and my role model. every night growing up, no matter what, the 4 of us would sit down to have dinner together as a family. i learned the importance and value of family through your actions and dedication to us. some of my favorite childhood memories involve spending quality time with each other around a table of delicious food. no wonder food is such a huge part of my life!
thank you for raising me to be independent and strong. you have always pushed me to be the best version of myself. you never let me quit anything even when i wanted to give up to teach me about perseverance and commitment. you give great advice in business and in life (whether i ask for it or not 😏). you’ve always encouraged me to be curious, ask questions, and to think outside the box. you believe in me in everything i do and i couldn’t be more thankful for your love and support. i’m getting married this year, daddy, but i’ll always be your little girl!
💉got my first tattoo by @christina_sugarinstudio ! i’ve always been curious about getting my eyebrows shaded or microbladed, but was so nervous since it’s on my face! i actually didn’t start doing anything to my brows until a few years ago when i noticed that putting a bit of brow powder made a big difference in opening up my face. even though it only took a minute or so, the problem was that i’m not great at make up and would often make them uneven 😂. having them ready to go at all times was so enticing to me! i also didn’t know who to trust with my brows, so pushed it off for a long time. finally i found @christina_sugarinstudio who also did my lash lift. after a lot of thinking and questions, i decided to go with ombré shaded brows per christina’s suggestion because she said as time goes on they look most natural. it’s semi-permanent and should last about 3 years.
first we numbed my brows, then she spent a long time mapping out my brows using her special technique that she actually teaches classes on! mapping is important as i wouldn’t be down for someone tattooing my brows freehand. then we chose my color. the tattoo process itself was not painful! it feels like a little zap, but i actually almost fell asleep a couple times. @christina_sugarinstudio was so careful and had me check the shape throughout the whole process, so i was always completely at ease. she even brought me kbbq kettle chips because my stomach was a serious orchestra last time i was getting my lashes lifted 🤣.
although i was warned, the healing process was a bit shocking. they were dark like frida kahlo, which i actually didn’t mind, but the scabbing looked pretty funny especially since i was in a wedding before it finished peeling off. i suggest giving yourself 2 full weeks before you’ll see what the final product looks like. now my brows have softened and look so natural without having to do anything to them when i wake up. #iwokeuplikethis please note: any negative comments are not welcome here! i’ve already received a bunch via dm while they were healing saying they’re too dark or now i’m ugly. this is my face, ya’ll! take it or leave it! ✌🏼
Did you hear the commotion about @ihop changing its name to #ihob? there was debate about whether it was a “b” for “booze, “bacon,” “breakfast” or even “bananas.” well, the whole time i was thinking “ihop(e) it’s burgers!” my wish came true!! these handcrafted burgers are big, juicy, packed with flavor, and seriously satisfying. good thing their pancakes are here to stay too because i had some as an appetizer 🥞🤤.
📹: mama quan (my parents used to take us to @ihop all the time as kids, so it was fun to take them to the first and only #ihob during their visit to la!) #sponsored
Boo! did i scare you 🤣? decided to put this iron man face mask to use that @socaleatery got me after a productive day at sip school for our new sippees. the kids love when i wear face masks! can you tell?
sip school has been in session for our new rowland heights @wearesip location. we’ve listened to your requests and are so excited to bring our high quality matcha inland! #sipmatcha#backtobasips p.s. thank you for the feature on sip, @eater!
It’s june!! my favorite month! growing up i was embarrassed of my name because people would always make fun of me with month jokes or ask why my name is a month. a classic response after i introduced myself was “hi, i’m july [or any other month].” 😒
the reason my parents named me june is because i was going to be born prematurely and my mom had to be on bed rest for months. if i was born in june, i would be healthy. so they wanted to name me june as a symbol of hope. i was born on june 28, so this bun stayed extra long in the oven!
as a kid and even as adults, it’s so easy to feel insecure as a result of outside influences. the best part about growing older is learning to be unapologetically you! one of the many things i would tell my younger self is that not everyone will like you and that’s okay! if everyone likes you, you’re playing it too safe.
happy june, everyone!!
