🎙 @laurenfisher 🇺🇸
how come you exercise so hard and don’t have a flat belly?! i shared my answer to this on my story but it was too important to not post about it as well. 😤 it got me a little fired up and i feel like it’s a topic that needs to be talked about more. 👊
“i don’t have a flat belly because i believe in fueling my body for performance over restricting my calories to look a certain way. yeah if i starved myself or cut down my fats and still trained as much as i do i might finally get that 8 pack but reality is my body type won’t. i like to eat and i know when i don’t eat enough i just don’t feel good during training. and a lot of it also comes down to genetics. so i’m sorry but i will never be one of the girls with no belly f*t at all and i’m okay with it. i’m not an instagram model, i’m an athlete and what we do is completely different here so if you don’t like the way i look you can unfollow. ☺️ thank you!”

ps. this is me no makeup, hair not done, just got done with training. i eat around 3000 calories a day and i feel happy and healthy in my body. yeah some of my pictures on instagram don’t look attractive or my muscles might be bulging because usually a photographer comes in the middle of my training session. i’m not posing for the camera or starving myself before so my abs will pop through. i’m trying to be the best me and if i get a cool picture in action i’m going to share it. ✌️be real, be true, be you. ❤️ that is all. thank you to everyone who shared or wrote me a kind message after i posted my story. love you all.
Two-time crossfit games veteran @mf_mathlete: “today (wednesday), i successfully defended my ph.d. thesis! i don’t say a whole lot about math on here, but this research has been the main focus of my life for the last 6 years. i cannot explain how good this feels 😊” #crossfitgames
eight-time crossfit games qualifier and @crossfit training seminar staff member austin malleolo had never run more than six miles in his life.
@runnersworldmag: “ … but when he was offered an entry into the boston marathon to raise money for build our kids’ success, a program that offers free exercise programs to kids before and after school, he jumped at it.’
@amalleolo: “my goal was to deadlift 600 pounds and run the @bostonmarathon in the same day! i figured not many people can do that and it proves the @crossfit methodology is potent and effective and we can create athletes that can have capacity at different ends of the spectrum!
“i learned so much in this journey and had a lot of fun and (am) super proud to have represented @reebok / @bokskids and raised over 30k and counting!! the biggest things malleolo learned: “perspective and the importance of your words relative to actions … . p.s. the @bostonmarathon and boston community is unreal!! surreal to have wild animal fans for 26.2 miles!!”
congratulations to austin malleolo on this outstanding accomplishment.
The plan may be to qualify, but smith is not afraid to talk about what it would be like if he doesn’t.
“it’s not something i focus on, but i do think about it at times. i’ve been doing it for 10 years every year and that was a good run. maybe i’ll have to take a year and then get back another year. but, i want to compete this year.”
“i think i can compete for a couple more years. i always thought twelve would be cool. but, i’m gonna leave the door open. i’m not closing anything.”

@melissawistrom: "my husband played football in the nfl for 9 years. we have always loved working out together. i used to train with him and all his defensive line friends during the off season. when he retired we found @crossfit and it was my turn to be the competitive athlete and he became my bag holder.”
wistrom finished 677th in the open and 27th among masters women 40-44, which advances her to the upcoming age group online qualifier.
leading up to the games last year my training was pretty fanatical. it was my sole focus. making it to the games as an individual was an amazing experience. i wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. that being said, this season my focus has been a bit different. i’ve been training super hard with phenomenal games level athletes at @crossfit _417. it has been really fun spending time with @jaredwaynestevens and his crew this past year. i hope to make it back to the games this year, but if i don’t i have really enjoyed the ride a great deal. the relationships i have established through training for crossfit will be ones that last a lifetime. the bonds formed with likeminded people through crossfit are pretty amazing. but as much as i love my tribe i would also really really love to get back to the crossfit games. i had the time of my life last year.”
